Certainly, this does not look like a good year, fruit over flooding the markets, prices going down and costs growing. Still, Comercial Luz Palos is a company that has managed to stand this rough situation and improve his customer base. We have found out how they managed to do so.

When everybody is producing the same, mostly Candonga strawberry, the option is clearly to ensure new markets, either geographically or regarding target customer. Having used Obeikan MDF boxes thru the season, the responsible of marketing has realized of a clear fact: same quality of fruit will sell better in Obeikan boxes.

They have achieved a great success in different markets; maybe the more significant will be the ultimate implementation in French supermarkets, which is likely to keep growing in coming years.

An attractive and ecologic box design, with no staples or glue, has been a key factor for this success, to the extent that initial estimations for their two kilo boxes have almost thrice fold the initial estimations.

The lesson to be learned is that innovation is not an extra push on good times, but a definitive tool to overcome successfully bad economy settings. Comercial Luz Palos is looking forward to next season when even further growth is expected.
